About the Course

This course gives care staff and providers awareness of the umbrella that is dementia. It looks at the leading types of dementia and the functioning of the brain. And signs and symptoms of dementia. It also looks at human needs and behaviour.

As well as an overview of positive activities for dementia individuals; giving staff a greater understanding of how to positively engage residents to ensure individuals are living well.

Course Content

Half day: 3.5 hours (Dementia Framework Tier 2)

  1. The History of Dementia.
  2. Challenging the stigma attached to Dementia
  3. Dementia Facts
  4. Anatomy of the Brain
  5. The Types of Dementia and their signs and symptoms
  6. Person Centred Care and living well
  7. Positive and Appropriate Activities overview.

Full Day: 6.5 hours (Dementia Framework Tier 2/3)
