About the Course

This Mental Capacity Training aims to improve knowledge around The Mental Capacity Act (MCA) which came into force in 2007 and was amended in 2019. With an overview of Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) and the changes from Deprivation of Liberties Safeguards (DOLS). This training looks at how staff must support individuals to have as much control of their own lives as possible and reviews the legality of decision making and best interests. It challenges closed culture working and ensures that staff have a thorough understanding of an individual’s legal rights and staff legal obligations.
