Nutrition and Hydration

Training you can trust

About the Course

This course raises awareness of nutrition and hydration in a format that is easy for staff to follow and understand that’s also enjoyable with a range of practical activities. The course explores the food groups and the impact that vitamins have on the body and potential deficiencies that can occur. The course looks at the signs and symptoms of dehydration as well as barriers to a balanced diet in care. We review how nutrition is linked to mental health; and how having a learning disability affects nutrition and hydration; as well as some of the challenges that staff face to ensure good nutrition and hydration for people living with dementia. We work with staff to look at how to support residents in this area and for staff to understand their responsibilities within nutrition and hydration.
